Technology Tools Assessment
Moodle- Moodle offers many different styles of assessment, from quizzes to workshops to lessons. Each offer different styles of assessment for different users. Teachers may wish to encourage learners to self assess, or may prefer more traditional quiz type assessments as part of formative assessment (Glynn 2012). This post offers instructional screencasts and documents on the various assessment options open through Moodle. It is useful due to its inclusion of turnitin, which is a program that scans for plagiarism and similar content. 8/10

Google Chrome- Google chrome is one of the most reliable browsers out there that is about user safety and security. I usually gravitate towards google chrome due to its ability to play any content that requires java or any flashplayer logins and most of all, I appreciate how google chrome can assign users to their profile so they can save bookmarks and favorites tab, not to mention incognito mode for users who do not want to be detected. It is a very lightweight app 9/10

Gmail Suite- GMAIL is probably the best email service out there for personal users. On an enterprise level, I would give it to outlook.com for that. One useful aspect of gmail suite is that it helps you organize with more flexibility. A conversation can have several labels, so you’re not forced to choose one particular folder for messages. You can also create filters to automatically manage incoming mail. The inclusion of google docs, google slides, hangouts and may other apps make google suite one of the best tools for productivity and collaboration. 10/10

Livebinders- We haven’t used this app extensively but I like the idea of a class e-binder. The potential I see in it is that it can be used to upload class notes, handouts, presentations in addition to extra resources for content-specific material. When a student misses class, they can simply refer to the binder to get caught up on work. Livebinders sometimes forces the user to be organized and the ability to create portfolios to share with their teachers can be useful for assessment purposes. Overall its a great app with a very user friendly interface. 7/10

Garageband- One of the very first composing device I have started with. The interface is very user friendly, easy to understand and MIDI and digital audio tracks are easy to insert. Garageband is perfect for the first time music composer and although the features in this app can be limited, it can be a great stepping stone for potential djs to move on to more sophisticated software. I’ve made a few compositions on my garageband at home and let me tell you I made a three minute song in a couple of hours. 6/10

Outlook Office365- Asides from the gmail suite, I also use outlook for email as well. Office365 is very useful as there are a number of capabilities that trump over gmail. One can be integration across email, calendar and contacts. Setting up meetings, finding information about a contact or dialing into conferences, outlook is a great hub for that type of continuity. Also Flags and changing importance of email is very important especially when you’re at work and you want to know which task needs to be prioritized more (Group Focus Technology 2012) . I feel outlook would be a great option in an enterprise setting. 10/10

Foxit PDF - Foxit PhantomPDF offers users with a very robust set of features and capabilities. It can perform functions you expect from a PDF application, such as creating PDF documents, converting PDF documents to other document formats and vice versa, edit, share, and digitally sign PDFs over the web. I would prefer this app over Adobe due to its ease in converting multiple file formats to PDF and vice versa. It can convert PDF files to Microsoft Word documents, excel and other popular document formats. The app itself is very lightweight, and its usability and navigation is very easy.7/10

Wix.com - A great platform for launching websites, and it has been pretty well known over the last few years, in part due to budget busting marketing campaigns. The beauty of this site is its ability to create a site by dragging and dropping items depending on your creativity. It runs on a browser and it provides its own web hosting. The layouts are virtually impressive and can be used for small businesses. Restaurants, online stores and artists. 6/10
